L-Soft Celebrates 20 Years

L-Soft Celebrates 20 Years

The year 2014 is a special one for L-Soft because it marks 20 years in business. Two decades ago, Eric Thomas – who first developed LISTSERV, the original email list software in 1986 – incorporated and registered the company to develop the software further. It promises to be an exciting year, with new software version updates, a new U.S. headquarters office opening, one Mailys nominator traveling to Stockholm to meet with Eric and the grand prize winner also winning a trip and meeting with Eric. Stay tuned, and thank you for being a part of the L-Soft and LISTSERV community.

LISTSERV Tech Tip

Q:

How can I send identical messages to multiple lists without triggering the spam filter?

Answer by Ben Parker
Chief Corporate Consultant, L-Soft

LISTSERV has long had a built-in anti-spam suite designed to prevent spam from getting through to lists. One major rule in this suite is that sending identical messages to multiple lists over a short period of time constitutes spam. However, considering that there is sometimes a legitimate need to distribute messages to multiple LISTSERV lists, the following are some of the approaches that can be taken.

LISTSERV Maestro Tech Tip

Q:

How does LISTSERV Maestro handle and keep track of bounced email messages?

Answer by Liam Kelly
Senior Consulting Analyst, L-Soft

In a previous tech tip, we discussed how to configure and tune the auto-delete mechanism in LISTSERV to remove bouncing email addresses from LISTSERV lists. Bounce handling in LISTSERV Maestro is more complex because address data for a Maestro mailing can come from so many different sources, not all of them writable, so bounces from LISTSERV Maestro mailings must be handled a bit differently.
