Bethesda, MD (September 29, 2003) – L-Soft's 129 percent revenue growth from 1998 to 2002 has made it the 37th fastest growing technology company in the Fast 50 for Maryland program. Leading professional services firm Deloitte & Touche, which created the Technology Fast 50 Program for Maryland, ranks the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the area by the percentage of growth in fiscal year revenues over five years, from 1998 to 2002.
"In today's economy, triple-digit percentage revenue growth is an exceptional accomplishment," said Gary H. Tabach, Managing Partner of Technology, Media & Telecommunications Practice. "We commend L-Soft for making the commitment to technology and delivering the promise of market longevity. We are proud to honor L-Soft as a Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 50 winner."
"An emphasis on developing solid software products and making careful strategic decisions about the direction of L-Soft has led to the company's 129 percent revenue growth and allowed it to remain a leader in the e-mail industry," L-Soft CEO Eric Thomas said.
In 1986, Eric Thomas invented LISTSERV®, a software product that remains the de facto standard for e-mail list management. Thomas formed L-Soft in the United States in 1994 so that the software could be commercially developed and ported from VM to other operating systems. The company, which remained profitable through the boom and bust of the dot-com era, has since developed an entire line of e-mail list management products and services. Today, L-Soft has a global presence with additional offices in Sweden, the UK and Germany. With more than 3,000 customers worldwide, including AOL, The Washington Post, the U.S. Senate and IBM, L-Soft delivers approximately 35 million messages a day to about 140 million list subscriptions.
To qualify for the Technology Fast 50, companies must have had operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 1998 and $1,000,000 in 2002, must be public or private companies headquartered in North America, and be a "technology company" defined as owning proprietary technology that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues (using other companies' technology in a unique way does not qualify); and/or devoting a significant proportion of revenues to research and development of technology.
Winners of the 20 regional Technology Fast 50 programs in the United States and Canada are automatically entered in the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500 program, which ranks North America's top 500 fastest growing technology companies.
